Far too many of us have felt the pain of losing someone we love. With your donations, we power groundbreaking cardiovascular research to save and improve lives, bring hope to families, and keep hearts beating across the UK.

Story

Thanks for visiting my page, and viewing a fantastic photo of my Dad, John, and I in Amsterdam in July.

My lovely Dad has the biggest heart out of all the men I know, (and not just for the mighty Hammers!). But recently, he’s had an unwell heart. He has heart disease and is currently awaiting a heart bypass. It’s been shocking for us all and a worrying time.

With this is mind, I'm raising money for the British Heart Foundation and I'd be really appreciative of your support.

I’m currently training for the London Marathon next year but, in the run-up to this, I’ve completed a 5km and 10km so far this year, and have been training for the 10 mile (16.1km) Great South Run on 15th October.

My parents have always been supportive of whatever I’ve set out to do, and this run will be for my Dad. Heart disease has stopped him living his normal daily life, which inevitably impacts us all, so when I say this run is for my Dad, it’s also for the supportive people around him, like my Mum, who is perfection personified with her love and care for him.

Sadly, our family has a history of heart disease but The British Heart Foundation’s research has come a long way in that time. Since its inception in 1961, the BHF has helped halve the number of people dying from heart and circulatory disease in the UK. This doesn’t just typically affect older people through heart attacks, stroke or vascular dementia; it could be young people with genetic conditions, DVT from a flight or babies born with a heart defect.

Having said that, in the UK more than half of us will get a heart or circulatory condition in our lifetime. 7,600,000 people are living with heart and circulatory diseases in the UK today - that's double the number of people living with Cancer and Alzheimer's disease combined.

It's only thanks to support from people like us that the BHF can create new treatments and discover new cures. £24 could pay for two hours of research by an early career scientist. Equally, donations are put towards support and information for families; something we’ve used ourselves. Every pound helps, so please give what you can to help me hit my target and get these feet round 10 miles.

Their vision is a world free from the fear of heart and circulatory diseases.Your support will help them continue the pace of their research, to keep hearts beating and blood flowing, and we can’t wait for our fantastic Dad to receive the treatment he needs very soon.

Thank you.
