Story
At the end of August 2022, my Dad (Robert Price) was diagnosed with stomach cancer. He spent the following 11 months bravely fighting the disease and still lived life with humour and love. Sadly Dad passed away 22nd July 2023 at just 60 years old. Not old enough to retire with Mum and live out their plans together, or to enjoy many more years of my dramas and being a grandad to his now 9 grandchildren.
Losing Dad has been difficult, I've felt grief like I never expected and had weekends where I've not wanted to get dressed, see anyone, speak to anyone or do anything which I'm sure those that know me will understand how out of charecter it is. I've suffered with anxiety and a constant fear that my children will one day have to see me so poorly and feel as helpless as i did with Dad. So it's time to start living as we don't know how long we've actually got.
I've been trying to think of ways to honour my dad and raise money which will help families and people like my dad should they ever find themselves in the same awful storm that is cancer.
My dad was a parachute trooper in his younger days and actually willingly jumped out of a plane so what better way to raise money in his memory than to experience something that he did.
This is a fully self funded jump, meaning that all money raised will go directly to St Lukes Hospice (winsford) to support families and people like Dad.
The jump is booked for Saturday 27th April (weather dependent)
So please, if you can spare it donate to this very worthy cause.
Since 1988, St Luke’s has been providing palliative care to local people, supporting them in ways which go beyond the scope and funding of the NHS. Last year we supported over 1,000 local people with a huge range of support from end of life care on our ward to supporting carers, and from helping children cope with grief to helping patients return to work after an illness.
We are a charity and provide all our care for free, so we rely on the generosity and commitment of our supporters to raise more than 80% of our costs.
