We successfully summitted on the 1st of February!

7 days hiking through the most spectacular, ever changing terrain, to reach the highest point in Africa - 5895m to Uhuru Point on Kilimanjaro.

Our summit climb took 8 hours from base camp, throughout the night, slower than a snail’s pace (“pole, pole”), to reach summit just after sunrise.

We experienced the coldest temperatures, -21c & wind chill with gusts of 40mph.

It was not an easy challenge - sleeping in a tent more often than not on a rocky slope, wild wee’s, being made to eat porridge & pasta for breakfast on summit night, no shower or hair wash for a week, facing fears scrambling 400m up the Barranco wall, waking at 5am each morning to begin a minimum 7 hour uphill hike, dealing with altitude and the mental slog on summit night itself.

However, we have met some fantastic people and had the most amazing experience we will remember forever.

The people of Tanzania are some of the most friendly and welcoming people you could meet. Without their support carrying tents, toilets, food & water up and down the mountain (usually on their heads and at some speed), it would not have been possible.

Their love of singing kept us going and made us feel really welcome.

Finally we would like to thank everyone who has made a donation in aid of Cancer Research. We have raised more money than we could have hoped for and the money we have raised, we hope will make a difference.

Over the years we have completed a few challenges but on the 27th of January we are tackling our biggest to date, attempting to climb and summit Kilimanjaro over the course of 7 days.

We are embarking on this challenge not just for the personal feat, but to raise support and funds for cancer research. Having both faced the formidable battle against cancer, this cause means a lot to us, fueled by our own journeys and the experiences of countless others affected by this relentless disease.

Every step we take up Kilimanjaro symbolizes resilience, hope, and the unwavering spirit to overcome. But we cannot do this alone. We need your support.
