Story
Me and my brother Luke are taking on the Great North Run for the 7th time to raise vital funds for the Sir Bobby Robson Foundation, in loving memory of our Uncle, Kevin Outhwaite.
Sadly, Kevin passed away 16 years ago after a long, hard-fought battle with skin cancer—a diagnosis he received just three weeks after losing his mum to bowel cancer.
Despite undergoing five major operations to remove ten tumors, Kevin remained an inspiration. During his treatment, he formed a close friendship with football legend Sir Bobby Robson. Learning about Sir Bobby’s foundation, Kevin was determined to give back and personally raised £13,644 through organizing his own charity events.
Since Kevin passed away in 2010, family and friends have proudly carried the torch, raising over £120,000 in his honor.
Why We’re Running
The Sir Bobby Robson Foundation funds life-saving projects within the Newcastle Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. This directly benefits cancer patients across North East England and Cumbria, while contributing significantly to groundbreaking international cancer research.
Every penny raised stays local to improve the health, care, and wellbeing of people in the North East and beyond.
How You Can Help
No matter how big or small, every single donation makes a difference and helps us reach our target.
Thank you so much for your support, generosity, and for helping us keep Kevin’s incredible legacy alive!
