Story
On the 12th May 2022, we sadly lost our precious son Alfie. Alfie was aged 2, and was like any 2 year old should be, happy and healthy with a wonderful future ahead of him.
On the night of the 11th May, we put Alfie to bed like normal, and to our devastation he didn't wake up the next morning.
Following a long & painful process dealing with police, coroners & other medical specialist's, we received Alfie's post mortem results which said his death was unexplained, with every piece of analysis stating he was healthy.
This should not happen to any child, and this is where we met the charity SUDC, who offered my family the most incredible support during the most challenging time of our lives.
SUDC UK is a registered, national charity dedicated to raising awareness, funding research and supporting families affected by Sudden Unexplained Death in Childhood (SUDC).
SUDC is the sudden and unexpected death of a child aged 1-18 years where the cause of death remains unexplained after a thorough investigation. 40 children are affected every year in the UK, more than young child deaths due to traffic accidents, fires or drowning and comparable to 1-2 seemingly healthy children dying every fortnight.
On the 19th April, I will be running 50 km to raise much need funding to help SUDC carry on supporting bereaved families, drive change across our emergency services and most importantly continue ground-breaking medical research to save lives and stop this happening.
Thank you for your support.
