Story

Jake’s Story — and Why We’re Supporting Watford Mencap 💛

Our family is lucky to have two wonderful sons, both with Autism. Every day brings its own challenges and joys, but one thing has made a huge difference to our lives: the incredible support from Watford Mencap.

Our eldest son, Jake, attends Watford Mencap three days a week. It’s become a place where he feels understood, included, and genuinely happy. He loves being part of the community — taking part in activities he enjoys, building confidence, and spending time with people who truly care about him.

For us as a family, those days also mean something precious: respite. Time to recharge, regroup, and breathe, knowing Jake is safe, supported, and thriving.

Watford Mencap’s team works tirelessly to support people with learning disabilities. They create opportunities, build independence, and bring joy into the lives of people who need it most. Their work is life changing — not just for Jake, but for so many families like ours.

That’s why we’re hosting a charity golf day. We want to give something back and help raise the funds needed to keep these vital services running. Every donation, big or small, helps Watford Mencap continue their incredible work and purchase the equipment and resources that make such a difference.

Jake comes home smiling. He feels proud of what he’s achieved. And as parents, that means everything.

Thank you for reading our story — and thank you for supporting a cause that is so close to our hearts.
