Story

Well one last hurrah........on 28th June my friends and I in the Cycle On You Spurs team will once again hit the road to raise vital funds for Prostate Cancer UK.

Over the past 7 years as a group we have raised over £250,000 for this brilliant charity but the fundraising will never stop until a cure is found. As some of you know, this is personal to me having been diagnosed with Prostate Cancer in 2019 but I've come out the other side cured with clear margins. Others aren't so fortunate and it doesn't discriminate. Recently the sad story of Sir Chris Hoy has brought this horrible disease back into the public arena so we've got to keep on pushing until all men can survive and live their lives to the full.

Having done two rides to Amsterdam in recent years I was always going to be up for something similar but when the Skip put this one out I must admit I had second thoughts for a minute.....but the cause is greater than my concerns so its the Grand Depart Classic! Putting that in layman's terms, we are doing the first stage of this year's Tour de France one week before the pros do it.......all 185km/115 miles of it......IN A DAY!! I'm not sure this old chassis has 115 miles in it but I'm hoping the bike does!

I know some of you might be bored of another 'Weekesy donation request' but if you can find it within yourself to donate it would be massively appreciated not only by me but just as much if not more so by the charity and those it supports. Cycling is going to be a massive contributor to cancer charities this year (SCH has his own event later in the year if you fancy taking part - https://www.tourde4.com/ ) so please dig as deep as you feel you can to incentivise this old git to get to the finishing line!

The course starts and finishes in Lille, going through towns including Lens and Bethune. It's said to be scenic and flat with 3 'gentle' climbs....I'll put a route map in an update but either way it's time to get a bit fitter and get some miles in the legs!

Thanks in advance for any donations made

Cheers

Neal
