Story
My partner Jake and I, on behalf of Ned's Fund, will be cycling the South Downs Way on Tuesday 28th of May in a day. The South Downs Way is a 100 mile trail with an accent of 3800m which follows the old routes and drove ways along the chalk escarpment and ridges of the South Downs. We will start in Eastbourne and finish in Winchester. It will be an enormous challenge!
We are raising money for Ocean Youth Trust South, an adventure sail training charity which takes young people aged 11-25 to sea in their 30-metre vessel Prolific. As we are both sailors, we know first hand the excitement and challenges of sailing.
To date Ned's Fund has raised over £86K and it is their greatest wish to raise £100K by the end of this year, 5 years since it was founded. Through the generosity and fundraising of others, Ned's Fund has contributed to other chosen charities to provide activities and opportunities for young individuals. The outcome of this is greater self-development and awareness of their true potential. Opportunities like these are invaluable to our society as they encourage young people to face barriers they thought they couldn't overcome and discover a new path in life. Through the telling of Ned's story we aim to raise awareness of the issue of suicide in young people and the amazing work of the charities we support. We hope that by fundraising in memory of Ned we can give young people, like Ned, hope for a happy and purposeful future.
