Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our Just Giving page.
Earlier this year our Dad, husband, brother, son and best friend, Sanjay Neergheen died from multiple myeloma, after a courageous five year battle. Many of you will remember his cheeky smile and even cheekier sense of humour.
To honour his memory, Maria, Milan, Dom, Yaz, and Chris will be working as a team to complete the Jordan Ultra Challenge. Set in the dramatic desert scenery of Wadi Rum, we will attempt to cover the distance of 2 marathons in 2 days, in what feels like a fitting tribute, as Jordan was the last place we had planned to go on holiday together, before Sanjay passed.
Your donations will make a tangible difference. There is currently no 'cure' for myeloma patients and those receiving a myeloma diagnosis will have it for the rest of their life.
When Myeloma UK was established in 1997 the average length of time a patient with myeloma could expect to survive was between 12 and 24 months.
Today, that time has quadrupled to between four to eight years, with three out of ten patients living for ten years or more after their diagnosis – and some for much longer still.
There were no bespoke myeloma treatments available to patients via the NHS.
Today, there are eight myeloma drugs in active use in the NHS pathway that can be delivered in 12 different combinations throughout a patient’s treatment journey.
To add some 'fun' into our fundraising, here are some incentives:
25% of our total - Free redeemable Level One tennis coaching session
50% - Milan & Dom will bleach their hair
75% - Dom & Maria will get tattoos
100% - You're all invited for a summer garden party
P.s. Keep Saturday 20 January free for a charity gig at Stop Cafe, Shrewsbury, more details to follow soon...
