Story
Nobody should sleep outside in winter but many people have no choice.
The Cambridge Convoy Refugee Group (CamCRAG) in cooperation with Cambridge Street Aid are hosting the "Fundraising For Refugees And The Homeless" event at St Giles' Church, Castle Hill, Cambridge over the weekend of 10th-11th February 2024. This year, Adam and I will be sleeping outside to fundraise for and raise awareness of the stuggles of individuals experiencing homelessness here in the UK, as well as those forced to stay in refugee camps.
This event highlights the fact that these people often face similar problems, and that they share a common humanity, and that homelessness is not their fault. They may be in this situation because they have lost their job, have family problems, have suffered illness, or because they face imprisonment and torture in their home country. Our message is that it doesnt matter - they deserve help without judgement, wherever and whoever they are.
The sleepout is not to mirror or replicate what it is like to be homeless but to raise money so we can make sure everyone has a safe home.
Help us support the homeless on the streets of Cambridge and the refugees in northern France by sponsoring our sleep-out.
