Story

I’m raising money for a cause that’s incredibly close to my heart, in memory of someone I knew personally, Spencer Bates.

Back when I worked as a window fitter, Spencer was the builder we relied on for laying foundations—especially for conservatories. He was one of those genuinely great guys: hardworking, kind, and always someone you could count on. Over time, I also got to know his mum through my job at Tesco, which has made this even more personal.

Sadly, Spencer passed away from MND, and it was truly heartbreaking. I saw first-hand how his health declined, which made it even harder to come to terms with. He left behind a loving family, including his children, and it’s a loss that’s deeply felt by everyone who knew him.

Spencer’s mum, Mary Bates, has been incredibly strong and inspiring through it all. She’s even done skydives herself to raise money—dressing up as Spider-Man and jumping out of a plane at 82 years old. Honestly, how incredible is that? She’s an amazing lady, and her passion for this cause is a huge reason why I want to do my part and help raise as much as possible.

Mary recently asked if I could help with fundraising for this incredible cause, and I didn’t hesitate to say yes.

So here’s what I’m doing…

I will be doing a sky dive on the 27th may from 15,000 feet 😱

I would love for us to reach £1,000. That would be incredible for this incredible cause and would mean so much to Spencer’s family.

Every donation, no matter how small, will make a difference and is hugely appreciated. Thank you so much for your support—it really does mean a lot.
