Neil's Great North Run fundraiser for The People's Kitchen Newcastle

Great North Run 2024 · 8 September 2024 ·
Bar a handful of exceptions, over the last year I’ve spent Wednesday evenings at The People's Kitchen.
It's an incredibly rewarding experience and I’m very grateful to have been welcomed by not only the rest of the volunteer team but most importantly the friends that rely on the service so much.
I can’t really envisage Wednesdays looking different now.
Being warm, clean, clothed, fed and having someone to talk to is something so many of us take for granted, but for those, many of whom are homeless that rely on The Peoples Kitchen that is just not the case.
The kitchen is open 365 days, serving 250-300 meals each day.
Super grateful for the opportunity to gain a greater sense of gratitude, kindness and patience; and witness humility at its very best.
The time and commitment it takes to run a charity like The Peoples Kitchen that relies solely on its fundraising and generous donations - with no government funding is no small task. So, with that in mind I’m joining them to run this year’s Great North Run.
A half marathon could be the most foolish thing I’ve done recently, or it might not? who knows.
Either way I’d appreciate your support for the Kitchen. 🏃♂️
