Story

Since COVID, an increasing number of people have started heading to the big outdoors for recreation, many heading for our hills & mountains. One body of unsung heroes in these environments are the volunteers of the various Mountain Rescue Teams located nationwide. These teams rely on fundraising to support their work, allowing them to continue to rescue and recover those getting into difficulties in our highlands.
Why Kinder Scout MRT out of the many MRT's in existence? I chose this particular team simply because Kinder Scout was the site of The Great Trespass of 1932, which paved the way for the establishment of the National Parks & Access to the Countryside Act 1949, allowing public access to these areas and the creation of National Parks of which there are now 15 in England & Wales.
Our enjoyment of these open spaces are dependant on knowing that bodies such as Kinder Scout Mountain Rescue Team are there for us should any of us getting into difficulties.
