Story
In May 2015 I suffered a Spinal Cord Injury when riding my mountain bike through a woodland downhill trail. I took a jump and landed badly, fracturing a thoracic vertebrae and damaging my spinal cord. After surgery to stabilise the fracture and to remove a blood clot from my spinal cord I have made a relatively full recovery. I remain under the care of Stoke Mandeville National Spinal Injuries Unit for regular monitoring of my “hidden disabilities”.
In gratitude and support of the fantastic work they do, I am planning to take on the National 3 Peak Challenge with my wife as ground support and walking with my two daughters Ellie and Rose, this year on June 16th, to fundraise in support the National Spinal Injuries Centre (NSIC).
The National Three Peaks Challenge involves climbing the three highest peaks of Scotland, England and Wales within 24 hours.
The total walking distance is 23 miles (37km) and the total ascent is 3064 metres (10,052ft). The total driving distance is 462 miles.
The NSIC is the largest spinal injuries centre in the UK and provides specialist holistic care and rehabilitation for Adults and Children, from early rehabilitation to continuing the lifelong care of all patients, helping them reach their full potential.
Many of the NSIC’s landmark innovations and rehabilitation treatments were funded with Charitable Support, so your donations really do help to continue the amazing work the NSIC does and make a difference to patients lives.
Thank you for your support!
