Story
At 11am on Saturday 21st September, Henry, Rosa and I will ride from Surbiton to Leith Hill to race in the Kingston Wheelers John Bornhoft Memorial Hill Climb.
Usually a solo event, this race attracts some of the top skinny-whippet hill climbers in the country - these riders will be looking to tackle the 1 mile Leith Hill climb (average gradient 8%) well under 4 minutes.
We thought that sounded too easy, so I'll be taking on the savage climb on my trusty Bullett cargo bike (non electric!) with Henry and Rosa on board.
Now, I *think* it should be possible to get up there without pushing but I'm really not sure - the combined weight of all of us is ~120-130kg, plus the bike is like 4x heavier than a carbon road bike so it's a real challange for sure. Riding 25 miles over the North Downs to get us there will be a challange in itself!
This daft endevour seemed like a good oppertunity to raise some money for Kingston Hospital Charity, which works to improve the quality of care and the experience of everyone who comes to Kingston Hospital or uses the services it provides in the community – patients, families and staff.
Henry and Rosa were both born at Kingston, and have used the hospital many times since - always receiving the best care. They've patched a lot of us Wheelers up over the years, too.
So if you can spare a donation to support us, that would be much appricated.
