Story

Back in September 2025 Jill was diagnosed with a tumour in her spinal cord. Only a few weeks before, we had proudly ran the GNR together without any symptoms.

Jilll had surgery to successfully remove the tumour in October. Against expectations, Jill is now learning to walk again and we hope that in time, she will be able to make a full recovery.

So, alongside Jill's rehabilitation journey, I am challenging myself to complete 10 half marathons starting in January and completing the last 1 hopefully on 10/10/26 - the date Jill had her surgery in 2025.

Every two hours, someone in the UK will become paralysed. Globally, it is estimated that 15.4 million people are living with paralysis. It can happen to anyone at any time, changing lives instantly.

When the spinal cord is injured it affects far more than the ability to walk. Paralysis impacts movement, sensation, continence, breathing, and much more.

At Spinal Research our vision is to create a world where paralysis can be cured, no matter when the injury occurred or where in the world.

Together, we can cure paralysis.
