Story
Pisa to Rome
Soooo….. it looks like we are at it again!
Back in May 2022 a group of us set out on a mission to cycle from London to Paris (“Paul’s House to Paris”) to raise money for a charity who’d help support Chris and Sian while their daughter Olivia was receiving treated for cancer.
It was an amazing event where we met some amazing people with often difficult stories, but all of whom were bought together with one purpose - To make a difference through “Young Lives Versus Cancer” and the amazing work they do.
We raised around £20k, had an amazing adventure, and built some friendships for life - What a buzz !
So much so that in 2024 we signed up for another ride, this time from Bristol to Amsterdam (Sam’s to Dam’s) - this was a tougher ride than London to Paris, mostly because the roads and weather in the UK were an absolute shocker …. Causing All sorts of mechanical issues, punctures, physical fatigue, and psychological fatigue too… but we made it into Amsterdam and raised another good chunk of sponsorship - With more lifetimes friends picked up along the way 😊
We have been plotting our next adventure for some time and we can finally reveal we will be riding in Italy in September of this year (that should at least give us a shot at a bit less rain than in 2024🤦♂️🤞🏻). The start will be in the shadow of the leaning tower in Pisa, concluding 4 days, 400km, 20k ft of climbing later, in the grounds of the Colosseum in Rome….
This is going to be our toughest ride yet and is by no means a “lay up” - we are already training and working out where to find some hilly terrain in and around Bedfordshire (which is a challenge in its own right!)
We are again looking for your support and sponsorship to help YLVC and really build a legacy - with the rides we have done and the many others who have under taken sponsored runs, walks, swims, and rides - “Olivia’s fund” has reached the amazing total of £70k and we are looking to smash the £100k mark with this adventure. We know times are tough and it’s difficult to make ends meet at times, but if you can spare a donation it will have a huge impact on the families YLVC support - Thanks in advance and watch this space for further updates
