Towards the end of 2023 one of my colleagues, Nick learned his wife had been diagnosed with cancer. This was a huge shock to him and his family, so they took a short holiday to spend some time together before treatment began. Whilst on their holiday, the unimaginable happened, his teenage son Alfie was killed in a tragic accident.

Over the next months, Nick's family had to navigate the grief of their loss, whilst also managing cancer treatment.

Nick was incredible throughout, holding things together for him and his family through the most terrible heartache. As a way to turn his grief into something positive, and to remember his son, Nick has started the Alfie Nick Foundation - a charity to help disadvantaged children. This is typical of Nick, one of the most genuinely inspiring people you can meet.

This month, the team at Lloyds Business & Commercial Bank are doing a number of activities to raise money to get Nick's Foundation started. For my small part, me and my daughter Juliet are going to run a hilly half marathon distance through Epping Forest. It will be the furthest she's run, but she'll probably be dragging her Dad along anyway!

I'm hoping to raise £500. Please help if you can.
