On 22nd June 2024, we are running the Midnight Sun Marathon (https://msm.no/en/events/midnight-sun-marathon/) in the Arctic Circle to raise money for Peeps HIE charity (https://www.peeps-hie.org).

Kirstin's PhD is researching the healthcare needs of children in the first two years of life following a diagnosis of Hypoxic Ischaemic Encephalopathy (HIE).

Peeps is the only UK charity dedicated to supporting those affected by HIE. HIE is a lack of oxygen to the brain around the time of birth that can cause injury, long term developmental delays and lifelong needs.

Peeps was set up in 2018 by Sarah & Steve. The name came from friends who affectionately referred to their daughter Heidi as “Heidi-Peeps”.

Every HIE journey is going to be different. There can be similarities, celebrations, uncertainties and worrying times. Peeps can be along-side families whenever they are needed, whether that’s today, next week or in a few months’ time.
