Thames path walk 30 miles · 4 May 2024
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page
A group of us are embarking on a 30 mile walk to raise money for Thamesdown Hydrotherapy pool. Nerys, Louise, Keelie, Hayley, Aaron, Nicky, Donna and Jeff will be walking a section of the Thames path - Lechlade to Oxford.
Our group have all accessed the pool in their own way, whether it has been to support young adults or for their own personal use - we each have our own story.
So we decided to try and raise as much money as we can to help the Thamesdown Hydrotherapy Pool, a Registered Charity - Thamesdown Hydrotherapy Pool | Homepage They need help to combat the extortionate rise in energy costs.
The money we raise will go towards the cost of installing solar panels and a new, more efficient heating system helping to reduce the costly energy – around an incredible 60%!! This would make the pool more sustainable and available for those in need in our community.
The Pool is invaluable to people of all ages with short term or lifelong disabilities and can be a lifeline for those who have a physical or learning disability, providing relief, exercise in a safe warm environment and a social space too. The impact on the wellbeing of those that use the pool cannot be over-estimated; it provides a positive sensory experience, an enjoyable activity to aid rehabilitation and a safe space for the nervous, worried and overwhelmed with expert help, support and advice from trained, committed and supportive staff.
The water must be set at 34 degrees to be classed as a hydrotherapy pool which is why the costs have soared during the energy crisis whilst the need for the pool has remained as vital as ever for a rapidly expanding community.
We appreciate any support given!
