Nesbit House's fundraiser for Teenage Cancer Trust

Nesbit House Hamberley Care Homes is raising money for Teenage Cancer Trust

Margaret's Everest Challenge

We are dedicated to improving the quality of life and chances of survival for young cancer patients aged 13-24. We fund and build specialist units in NHS hospitals and provide dedicated staff, bringing young people together so they can be treated by teenage cancer experts in the best place for them.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit Margaret's JustGiving page.

During her Radiotherapy, Margaret (Maggie) aged 92, feeling sick and tired of the lack of movement and being sedentary. Decided enough was enough. With help from our Wellbeing Lead Iestyn, Maggie has set herself The Everest challenge. Now that her Radiotherapy is finished, Maggie will log her steps each day with a goal of 400 steps until she hit the target of 11,434, which is the distance from Base Camp to the summit of Everest. Sadly, Maggie never got to do this challenge and we are helping her to achieve this goal. This walk originally started so that Maggie had something to do and to keep her motivated. We are now using this opportunity to raise some money for the same charity that she fundraised for on her boot camp expedition, The Teenage Cancer Trust.

Maggie’s motivation at the time of her trek to Everest base camp was to raise money and support her Grandson who was diagnosed with Leukaemia. We would like to continue this great work and thought it would be poetic to raise the money again for the same charity. Let’s give Maggie that extra bit of motivation to keep going!
