on 18 October 2026

Love Rowing is British Rowing's new Charitable Foundation. Its mission is to create accessible and inclusive rowing programmes for communities that are currently under-represented in the sport. It aims to change lives, working together with its partners, through the transformative impact of rowing.

Story

Thank you for taking the time to visit my fundraising page and for considering a donation to the British Rowing Charitable Foundation - Love Rowing.

I was initially inspired by Ben Pritchard, whom I met last year. Ben is a Paralympian Gold Medalist who has overcome major set backs in his life to achieve success and recognition in rowing. Ben actively supports the charitable side of the sport which is seeking to create more opportunities for disabled and disadvantaged young rowers.

Having, subsequently, been introduced to Love Rowing, I am impressed with the people and their aims , particularly in the area of sport for disabled rowers. Love Rowing believes in opening doors, building confidence and creating brighter opportunities through the power of rowing. This means a great deal to me and I am proud to raise funds so more people can benefit from it. Every donation, no matter the size, helps to move this work forward and makes a real and lasting impact.

Although I am not an active rower, I remain a reasonably competent athlete who has returned to the sport of running, after more than 50 years, and wish to use that skill to help me raise funds for the charity. As a first step, on 18 October 2026, I will be taking part in the Abingdon Marathon with hope, determination and a deep appreciation for the difference that my effort could make.

My immediate target is £1,000, to help buy adaptive rowing equipment for disabled rowers in the Henley and Abingdon area. I would be so grateful for your support in helping me reach it. If you are able to give, please donate what you can and help me turn this goal into something meaningful for the charity and the people it supports. Thank you for your kindness, encouragement and generosity. I will look forward to thanking you personally for your support.
