Story

Our Vine Foodbank supports families in crisis with essential tinned and packet foods and emergency toiletries in the New Addington/Forestdale area.

YOUR giving helps us to ensure that we always have exactly what is needed on our shelves throughout the year!

We have been supporting approximately 40 families a week with food donated by churches, school harvest, customer donations in Sainsbury's and by buying in food with money donated to us.

All our clients are referred from other agencies, e.g. schools, DWP, social workers etc, for up to 4 weekly visits at a time.

Typically, food recipients will have experienced an event that has changed their circumstances and left them in crisis. These qualifying events include: (a) a change in benefit status including benefit delays, appeals and a gap in the payment of benefits; (b) unemployment and the delay in the payment of wages on returning to work; (c) sickness; (d) domestic violence; (e) a one-off event that has meant that the recipient's available resources have been diminished with a result that they have been unable to buy sufficient food to meet their needs.
