I am joining the Newcastle Big Ride for Palestine. We are raising money for the inspirational Gaza Sunbirds. The Gaza Sunbirds were a Paralympic cycling team before Israel escalated the siege and bombardment of Gaza. Now the Gaza Sunbirds use donations to source food and aid. They distribute it to their communities, by bike, on foot and using any available vehicles. The situation in Gaza is dire. Supporting mutual aid like the Gaza Sunbirds helps the people who need it.

The Sunbirds were founded in 2019, after Olympic hopeful Alaa Al-Dali was shot in the knee by an Israeli sniper and left with an amputation. The Sunbirds team are para-athletes. They had been training with the hope of representing Palestine in the 2024 Paralympics.
