Newport's story
Help us bring voices from Palestine to young people in Wales
We’re raising funds to bring a group of Palestinian teenagers to Newport this September as part of the Beyond the Checkpoints Youth Visit 2025, organised by CADFA (Camden Abu Dis Friendship Association). These visits offer life-changing opportunities for the young people involved – both those coming from Palestine and those they meet here in the UK.
Why this matters
Palestinian youth live under occupation – a reality marked by fear, raids, checkpoints, and limited freedom. Through this programme, they can share their lived experiences with young people in the UK, exchange cultures, and form powerful connections that inspire empathy, awareness, and action.
“These tours gave our youth the freedom to express themselves about the occupation and its impact on their lives, problems and rights without fear.” — Palestinian leader, October 2024
For many of these young people, this is their first time leaving Palestine and seeing life without the daily stress of occupation. For the young people in the UK, it’s a rare and powerful chance to hear directly from their peers living in a very different reality. We believe that youth exchanges like these build bridges – and hope.
A visit to Wales
This summer, a group of young Palestinians aged around 10 will be touring Wales and staying for 3 nights in Newport. We want to organise a welcoming and exciting itinerary as well as public events for them to share their stories of life in Palestine today.
How You Can Help
This entire visit is community-funded – there is no big grant behind us, just people like you who care. Your donation will help cover essential costs like travel, food, accommodation, and activities, and making sure the visit is safe, meaningful, and enriching for all involved.
We're also looking for local schools, youth groups, projects and community members to be part of the visit – so if you’d like to get involved, we’d love to hear from you!
Please donate what you can, share this campaign, and help us bring these powerful voices from Palestine to Newport.
