We stand for everyone affected by dementia to find a cure

Story

We are newsreaders at Radio 4. We are NOT runners.

As you may know, our friend and colleague, Susan Rae was diagnosed with early-onset Alzheimer’s disease last year and many of us in our small team of announcers at Radio 4 have friends or family with the condition.

It was suggested to us that if we wanted to do something to help, we could either organise a cake sale or run a half marathon. As neither of us is remotely skilled in the baking department, we were left with no choice. That decision seemed straightforward six months ago, now we find ourselves faced with 21 kilometres of pain, sweat and recrimination.

We’ve spent many hours discussing how to get out of it… if you sponsor us, we’ll have no option but to see it through. The money raised will go to Alzheimer’s Research UK.

If you would like us to run for someone you know please add their name to your donation.

Thank you.
