Story
As part of our school curriculum, we want to serve our local community in whatever way we can! In this event we aim to serve the homeless in South-West/West London.
We want to support our local charity GlassDoor - GlassDoor runs London’s largest emergency winter night shelter network, providing a safe, warm place to sleep for up to 170 men and women a night in partnership with churches across West London. Year-round, men and women with nowhere else to turn can find drop-in centres during the day and the support they need to end their homelessness. GlassDoor night shelters save lives. In addition, GlassDoor offers their full support to the homeless, instead of temporarily solving the solution for one night. They offer jobs, and permanent housing to people living on the streets.
We have decided to run our very own sponsored SleepOut on Friday 20th October. We hope to raise £12,500 in this act. During this time we will give up the comfort of our own homes to endure the experience of sleeping rough. Our funds will be donated to the homeless community via GlassDoor Charity, giving thousands of pounds to the homeless. We are extremely thankful to have this life and go to Newton Prep and we feel passionate about understanding the experience of a homeless person and offering our support.
