We are an international organisation working to build a prosperous rural Africa. We help farmers to increase their harvests, build their incomes and sustain natural resources, partnering with governments and the private sector to find effective ways to fight poverty.

Story

Who we are:

Jen Cox - NFU External Affairs Adviser. Jen works in the NFU's London office, leading the NFU's young farmer political engagement strategy. This is her first marathon.

Lizzy Milne - NFU Media Adviser. Lizzy works in the NFU's national press team, landing key Back British Farming messages in national press publications throughout the year. This is also Lizzy's first marathon

Emma Crosby - NFU External Affairs Manager. Emma also works in the NFU's London office and leads the NFU's food and farming political engagement strategy. This is her fourth marathon!

As a group of women working in the agriculture industry and championing British food security, we are delighted to be running the London marathon in support of Farm Africa.

Farmers all over the world are being hit by challenge after challenge as the climate crisis accelerates, threatening food security.

Farm Africa helps smallholder farmers across eastern Africa to implement climate-smart agricultural practices to grow and sell more, while protecting the environment for generations to come.

Farm Africa also works tirelessly to close the gender gap by prioritising support for female smallholder farmers, who are often most vulnerable to the effects of climate change while simultaneously being left out of climate change decision-making processes.

Here's how your sponsorship could help:

£5 could help to buy 10kg of forage seeds, so that farmers can grow food for their livestock.

£11 could provide training to one woman in high-quality coffee production in Uganda.

£16 could help to pay for a farmer to hire help to bring in his harvest.

£22 could help to establish a forest product enterprise.

£60 is enough to buy two local female goats for pastoralist women in Ethiopia.

£100 could help to provide two farmers with the means to start a beekeeping business, including a hive, beekeeping equipment and a bee colony.

Thank you so much in advance for your kind support and generous donation. Together, we can build resilient and brighter futures for farming families across eastern Africa and support food security across the globe.
