Story
I will be running the Coll Half Marathon 2023 to raise money for my local Mutual Aid and Community Food Point in Pollokshields, Glasgow. This is an organisation doing vital work supporting those in need in the local community, helping to sustain and build community solidarity during the growing cost of living crisis. This service relies on volunteers and donations - please give however much you are able to!
"Pollokshields Mutual Aid (PMA) is a group of residents in G41, Glasgow, who came together at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic to support each other and those in need in our community. PMA opened Pollokshields Community Food Point in April 2020 at 423 Shields Road, in partnership with Southside Housing Association and other local partners. Since then 14,500 household food packs based on choice have been provided.
"Run by volunteer community members, The Food Point has developed as a community connection point, where relationships, confidence and skills are built as well as food support provided. The Food Point continues to work with the ethos of mutual aid, connecting closely with the broader Glasgow Mutual Aid network."
