I’m running the Manchester marathon 2026 to raise funds for the Alzheimer’s Society in honour of my Dad, George Murphy, who passed away from Dementia in August 2025.

Seeing this highly intelligent man decline into confusion and inarticulacy and gradually disappearing was a horrible experience and one I wouldn’t wish on anyone else.

Unfortunately, Dementia is a trait in my Dad’s family so I want to do what I can to help those fighting this terrible disease.

At the Alzheimer’s Society they are working towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives.

They do this by giving help to those living with dementia today, and providing hope for the future. Please help me to help them so others don’t have to go through what my Dad did.
