10 peaks Challenge for Fiona's Eye Fund

Niamh Hay is raising money for Fiona's Eye Fund
In memory of Fiona Dolan

10 peaks challenge. 10 Munros in one day · 16 May 2026

This fund is been set up in memory of Dr Fiona Dolan, formerly specialist registrar in Ophthalmology, Glasgow who died, aged 36. It funds a cause close to Fiona's heart - enabling Ophthalmology colleagues to perform cataract operations and restore sight to people of all ages in developing countries.

Story

This May, a group of us are taking on the 10 Peaks Challenge: attempting 10 Munros in a single day across the Mamores ridge in the Scottish Highlands. We’re doing it for Fiona's Eye Fund.

Fiona's Eye Fund was set up in memory of my mum, Fiona. As an eye doctor, her life’s work was dedicated to helping others see, and we are determined to continue doing just that. We recently hit a massive milestone - 5,000 cataract surgeries completed abroad!! Now, the question is, how many more people can we help regain their sight?

I want to keep my mum’s memory alive, keep her name in our conversations, and continue the work she was so passionate about.

To make sure we actually make it off the ridge, I’ve picked my team very wisely. I've assembled a team of strong and experienced hikers (Andy, Colin, Kate and Josh). So fingers crossed we won't be calling mountain rescue!

Every donation, no matter the size, goes directly toward restoring sight to someone in need. Thank you!!
