Story

Cancer remains one of the most devastating illnesses worldwide, affecting millions of lives each year. In 2024 alone, over 19.3 million people globally have been diagnosed with cancer, a stark reminder of the relentless nature of this disease. Every diagnosis represents not just a number but a person—a loved one, a friend, or a colleague—whose life has been turned upside down.

Cancer is something that hits very close to home for me. I lost my grandad, John Ratcliffe, to this unforgiving disease. Sadly, the impact of cancer doesn't stop there. I've continued to encounter more people I care about who have been affected by it. Most recently, our gym community has been hit hard by the news that Harry Watling, a remarkable 20-year-old man from our gym, has been diagnosed with Ewing sarcoma. Harry was just about to complete his pilot training, a lifelong dream, when cancer put his future career on hold. Watching someone so young and full of potential face such a daunting challenge has been heartbreaking for all of us who know him.

However, in the face of this devastating news, our gym community has come together like never before. We are rallying around Harry, offering support, encouragement, and love as he confronts cancer head-on.

Harry’s courage inspires us all, and we are committed to standing by him and others affected by cancer. Together, we can make a difference, raising awareness and funds to support research, treatments, and ultimately, a cure for this relentless disease.
