1.5 hour swim

North Devon Hospice provides free care and support to individuals and their loved ones who are faced with the impact of a life-threatening illness. Everyday we help over 100 people, either in their own homes or at Deer Park, completely free of charge.

Story

Hi there, my name is Niamh, I love swimming so I decided to do a fundraising swim for North Devon Hospice.

I recently raised some money with my school for the Hospice and we raised around £1100 pounds for the cuddle bed appeal and I really enjoyed helping raise the money. I decided I was going to do another fundraiser for the Hospice but I was going to do it using one of my strengths, swimming.

I am going to swim by myself for 90 minutes in the pool at the leisure in Barnstaple, which is a lot more than I usually do in one go so I feel very proud of myself. I am 11 years old and I've been having swimming lessons since I was teeny tiny and now I feel like I am a strong swimmer.

I have started training for the swim which will be on the 26th of August.

I chose the hospice because I think that it is a great charity and its important that you feel cared for in a homely and comfortable environment when you are sick or at the end of your life.
