Shaving my hair off

We believe every moment matters so we go above and beyond to help our patients and their families make the most of every moment they have left. All our services are free of charge. We receive 33% of our funding from the NHS and rely on donations to raise the extra £13m we need each year.

Story

Hi everyone!

After a long time joking about doing it, I’ve decided to finally take the plunge and get a buzzcut. However, beyond the obvious benefit of looking like an EDL supporter / insert whatever else people have suggested I’d look like, I’ve realised I could also raise some money for charity and feel better about looking like a mug for the rest of the Summer. In the words of one friend at uni, ‘oh great, now he can look bad and be self righteous’. Opinions may vary on whether either of those things are a change.

Beyond the fact that it would be quite funny, there is a serious point to all this. As some of you may already know, Royal Trinity Hospice is a very important charity to me. In March of last year, my mother died after a short battle with a brain tumour. During her final few weeks, the work of Trinity Hospice allowed her to stay at home, comfortable with her family as their wonderfully friendly nurses came in multiple times a day. Without their help, she would have had to spend that time in hospital. The work they do is invaluable for so many families around London in allowing them to spend those precious moments with their loved ones.

So that’s the serious bit over - the more entertaining part is I’ll probably livestream it. So if you’ve got any money left over at the end of term or just feel like putting some towards an incredibly worthy cause (or making me look like an idiot for the next few months), please do donate whatever you can.

Much love and THANK YOU,

Nic
