Story
I’m very proud to be an ambassador for 5k Your Way and run the group that meets each month in Southwark Park.
5k Your Way, which is one of Move Against Cancer’s initiatives, and linked with parkrun, is a supportive community for anyone affected by cancer to go along to their local group & walk, jog, run, cheer or volunteer on the last Saturday of the month. In a small number of years, and through the pandemic, it has grown from one brilliant idea in Nottingham and there are now groups across the UK and Ireland.
Our particular group is fuelled by home baking: each month we get together afterwards for cake.
It’s a superb grassroots charity and so I’m running the next Great North Run in support of them. (Please note - I should have run in 2023 but events beyond my control meant I had to defer. I will run in 2024)
This will be my first half marathon since my own cancer diagnosis in May 2020.
For my fundraiser I have written a little e-book about our group, with some of our stories and containing 12 recipes for the goodies we’ve shared after parkrun.
I will mail a copy to anyone who donates (so long as you say that I can contact you, when you donate).
Thank you very very much for supporting me.
