It has been a long journey since May 2024 when I was diagnosed with encephalitis. In addition to the important research and other incredible work of Encephalitis International, the community helped me see that I am not alone. Without that, I would not feel so confident that there is still a rich, happy future for me.

I will do whatever I can to contribute to this community and help anyone who finds themselves in that difficult position.

Worldwide, three people are diagnosed with encephalitis (brain inflammation) every minute. Caused by infection or autoimmune diseases, it can affect anyone. It is an acutely serious condition with high mortality rates, leaving many who do survive with an acquired brain injury - potentially affecting them physically and/or affecting their memory, thinking and personality for the rest of their lives.
