These are 10 adventurous trekkers [all self funded] are walking the Primitivo Camino in Northern Spain - said to be the most arduous of the many routes to Santiago de Compostela in September 2023 raising funds for Kinship Care.
Kinship Care [formerly Grandparents Plus] came to our metaphorical 'rescue' when we took two of our grandchildren [now 13 & 6] into our fulltime care. Struggling through the maze of legalese to formalise our place in these girls lives, Kinship sprang into action, smoothing our path through a seemingly impenetrable wall of bureaucracy. With localised groups of similar carers we are able to share our experience and with training can support others while receiving guidance at the same time. We were just at the point of retirement seven years ago and are now fully occupied in a new realm of 'work', choosing schools, trying to understand their homework while 'fighting' for similar recognition and support to that given to Foster Carers. Please help us to help Kinship in its work supporting the known 162,000 children currently being looked after in the England and Wales by their families and friends, many unsupported either financially or physically. https://kinship.org.uk/
