Story
My name is Nicholas Le Blanc. I’m taking part in a 140-foot abseil down the Mailbox building in Birmingham on the 11th October. Despite the fact that I’ve never done any abseiling before, any fear that I will feel in this abseil is nowhere close to the uncertainty that families may face before going into hospital. However, my family are indebted to the courage, compassion and the reassuring presence displayed routinely by the staff at the Women’s Hospital. I myself was born there.
This is my way of helping to give back to the hospital and, albeit in a small way, to reinforce the legacy of the life-changing work of Birmingham Women’s Hospital. Being in hospital is always stressful but with your help and generosity, Birmingham Women’s Hospital can be even better prepared to navigate more than 50 thousand families per year through their time at hospital.
