Story
We are raising funds for Fighting Against Cancer Edinburgh (FACE) who did so much to make Babs’ time in hospital bearable.
The charity did so much for us from providing an air mattress which helped her sleep easy, and ice lollies/a fan to keep her cool during the recent heatwave, to helping us get married in hospital which was a truly joyous occasion during our darkest time. You Learn More About FACE Here.
We would greatly appreciate your help to commemorate Babs and raise funds for the charity by:
- Donating generously to support others who are facing cancer (how your donations help detailed below)
and/or by
- Joining us on the Kilt Walk (Wee Wander) on Sunday at 1030 on the 13th of September. Express Interest in Joining Us on the Kilt Walk Here. (event details below)

Having experienced amazing support from FACE first hand I know that each of your donations will help to bring comfort, support and moments of joy for the next person and family going through their darkest days –something Babs would want and be proud of.

To honour Babs we ask you to join the Kilt Walk (Wee Wander) at 10:30 am on Sunday the 13th of September. The walk is 4.5 miles and should take approx 2hrs to complete, starting from Victoria Park and ending at Murrayfield Stadium.
We thought this would be a fitting tribute as Babs was featured in local news for her fundraising efforts and for completing the 26.2 mile Moon Walk to raise money to fight cancer.

The Kilt Walk will also be a wonderful way for all of Babs’ nearest and dearest to get together informally on the starting line and walk for Babs while sharing stories about this absolute legend of a human being.
Registrations for the walk are free, however NHS Fundraising Lothian have suggested a minimum £50 fundraising/donation to attend. All donations for the walk should be made via this page.
Even if you can't attend the walk your generous donations will be most welcome. Below are some of the ways that your donations will be used by FACE to help those facing cancer:
- A gift of £20 provide two boxes of ice lollies, offering comfort and relief to cancer patients struggling with treatment side effects or symptoms.
- A gift of £50 could provide two bed wedges, helping patients remain comfortable and supported as they return home for end-of-life care.
- A gift of £100 could provide three over-bed tables, enabling patients to eat, read and spend precious time with loved ones from the comfort of their bed at home.
- A gift of £300 could fund two wheelchairs, giving patients the freedom to make short visits home and continue making meaningful memories with family and friends.
- A gift of £750 could create lifelong memories for one child living with the impact of cancer and bereavement through a special trip to Lapland.
- A gift of £2,000 could fund an entire month of complementary therapies, supporting the physical and emotional wellbeing of cancer inpatients, in the hospital.
We thank you for your generous donations and look forward to seeing you you at the Kiltwalk.
