Running the Brighton Marathon for Power to Connect
On race day, I’ll be taking on the Brighton Marathon to raise money for Power to Connect, a charity working to tackle digital exclusion in Wandsworth and beyond.
In today’s world, being online is no longer a luxury - it’s essential for education, employment, healthcare and staying connected with friends and family. But thousands of people still don’t have access to the devices or digital skills they need.
Power to Connect is changing that.
Founded in 2020, the charity collects donated laptops, tablets, and smartphones from businesses and individuals. These devices are securely data-wiped, refurbished, and redistributed to families, schools, and community organisations supporting people who would otherwise go without.
Alongside providing devices, the charity also runs free digital skills training and support sessions, helping people build the confidence to use technology safely and effectively.
Thanks to this work, thousands of devices have already been given a second life - helping children access schoolwork, adults apply for jobs, and older residents stay connected with loved ones.
But refurbishing and distributing technology isn’t free. Donations help cover vital costs like:
• Secure data wiping and refurbishment
• Chargers and accessories for devices
• Logistics and delivery to families and schools
• Digital skills training and support sessions
Every donation, no matter the size, helps get more people connected.
So if you’re able to support, please consider donating... and cheering me on as I tackle 26.2 miles for a great cause.
Thank you!
