Story
Hi everyone,
On 11th of May, I am running the Bristol Half Marathon for the Bristol & Weston Hospitals Charity! This will be longest run I have done to date and I am hoping that you can help support me.
Back in August 2022, I underwent some pretty big surgery at the Bristol Heart Institute (BHI). I am indebted to the team of doctors and nurses at the BHI who had the resources to identify what was wrong with me and were able to put me right and provide me with the support and care immediately afterwards.
In the weeks following the surgery, my recovery was slow and debilitating, activities like walking to the nearby park felt like running a (half!) marathon.
Two years on and fully recovered, I want to give something back, and to raise money for an organisation that has done so much for me and my family, and also to demonstrate the positive difference in my health, by taking part and completing the Bristol Half Marathon.
The Bristol & Weston Hospitals Charity is the official NHS charity, working alongside University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust. The money you donate to Bristol & Weston Hospitals Charity makes a real difference to the lives of millions of patients who need and use the hospitals. The charity goes above and beyond to transform patients experiences and their environments. They fund world-class tech, research and champion equal access for all patients. Thank you for sharing my passion to support them and go the extra mile for our NHS. This is a charity that is very close to my heart (pardon the pun).
Thank you in advance for your support and generosity.
Nick
