Story
2025 saw Mission Direct move to a new project at Wiggins Primary School.
This is a Government Primary School near to Kumi Centre but serving a mainly rural community to the South of Kumi. It has just over one thousand students. The school has twenty teachers but only thirteen homes, some of which are in a very poor condition. This means that six classrooms are being used to house teachers. The consequence of this is that some of the students are being taught in dilapidated classrooms from 1940’s, in which lessons are disrupted by poor weather.
The target for 2026 is to complete another four homes and if possible provide washrooms and latrines too.
Ensuring teachers are well housed has direct benefit to the children’s education, ensuring teachers are available without the worry of coping without the worry of coping with inadequate housing.
