Story

Welcome to Nick Ball and Nick Hodges Fundraising Page for the 2024 London Marathon. We have decided to share a page as we have done a lot of joint fundraising. Please have a read of our 'why' for taking this on below,

Nick Ball

Hi Guys,

Many thanks for visiting my page and supporting my fund raising event.

So, at the ripe old age of 48, I have agreed to take on the challenge of doing my first ever Marathon. I will be taking part in the London Marathon (LM) on April 21st 2024.

When Nick Hodges called and offered me the chance to run the LM for the Bodie Hodges Foundation, I went quiet. My head said "no chance will you be able to do that, your knees are knackered," I then realised why I would be doing this and how it would support this amazing charity. It was a no brainer. A week later I called Nick and said "I'm in and I better get the running trainers out."

Nick & Donna Hodges set up the foundation following the death of their beautiful 10-month-old son, Bodie, they wanted to offer support to other bereaved families.

Nick & Donna found the death of a child isolating and lonely and it can be hard to ask for help or know how you want to be supported. The acts of kindness that they received from others led them to decide to support other families bereaved of a child and to do good things in Bodie’s name.

The Bodie Hodges Foundation was formed in 2013, to support families who have been bereaved of a child of any age and to promote organ donation. Over the last 10 years they have listened to the families that they have met along the way and reflected on how their own grief has changed over time.

Their vision remains the same, to give hope to families bereaved of a child by providing a range of services that support grieving families and encourage them to rebuild and remember.

The charity is run by Nick and Donna and a growing number of employees and volunteers. some of whom have sadly also experienced the death of a child. We believe that it is this love and understanding, alongside their lived experience that has enabled the charity to support so many families.

Thanks again for supporting me but more importantly The Bodie Hodges Foundation and the families they support respectively. The link below is for their web page in case you want to learn more about the work they do.

Cheers

Nick

Nick Hodges

This will be my second London Marathon after taking part in 2018 which was the hottest on record. I therefore know what a fantastic experience this is and one which I knew Nick B would relish.

Running has become a form of therapy for me since the death of Bodie in 2012 but I have also benefitted from some incredible experiences. I'm not quick but have a determination to work hard and achieve the goals that I set. I also know that when I'm out treading the pavements for the hundreds of training miles there is a bigger picture. Every penny raised will support families bereaved of their child offering them hope for the future through the many services The Bodie Hodges Foundation provide.

Thank you for supporting both of us.
