Nick's fundraiser for Children's Heart Surgery Fund

Nick Buckley is raising money for Children's Heart Surgery Fund

125 Mile walk + Celebration night · 21 April 2026

1 in 125 babies are born with CHD. CHSF supports Leeds Congenital Heart Unit, it's patients and their families. We fund lifesaving equipment, parent accommodation, staff training, and a family support service. 100% donor-funded, we can only do this with your help. Empowered lives, because of you.

Story

Hi everyone,

Last year, with huge support from my friends, I walked 125 miles to Watford and together we raised over £6,000.

This year, I’m taking on the challenge again and hoping to raise even more.

I’ll be walking 125 miles from Middlesbrough to Sheffield, finishing with a celebration night, including a raffle and auctions. (Everyone is welcome, give me a message for details)

I’m doing this to raise money for the Children’s Heart Surgery Fund, a charity that means the world to my family. My daughter, who is now 2 years old, needed open-heart surgery at just 6 months old to close a hole in her heart. Thanks to the incredible surgeons and hospital staff, her heart was “fixed”, and we’ll never be able to thank them enough.

1 in every 125 babies is born with a heart defect, which is why walking 125 miles is so important and personal to me.

The Children’s Heart Surgery Fund is entirely charity-funded. They provide accommodation for parents while their babies and children undergo surgery and recovery, emotional and practical support during incredibly stressful times, and help with loss of earnings while parents are off work caring for their children.

Thank you so much for taking the time to read this. If you’re able to donate, every single contribution—no matter how small—makes a real difference.

Nick
