Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
The short version is that I'm biking from Blackpool Tower to the Eiffel Tower, raising money towards a range of repairs and refurb work needed at Brunswick Parish Church in Ardwick, close to the city centre in Manchester. I know it's never a good time to ask, but if you can spare a few quid that would be amazing.
The long version is that Brunswick (as we call it) has been my church for the last 27 years. At the heart of a vibrant and diverse urban estate, the building has become a valued community hub, offering local people a variety of activities and services. Current activities include a toddler group, women's group, advice and guidance drop in, cafe (providing free hot snacks and drinks and £1 meals), exercise classes, youth clubs and after school clubs as well as community social events (the annual community pantomime being a particular favourite!).
Although not quite as old as me, the lounge area is in desperate need of repair and refurbishment, both structurally and internally (I know how it feels) - it has a leaking roof, rotten windows, ripped carpet and chairs that are long since past their sell by date. I could go on...
Anyway, we're raising funds to repair and refurbish the lounge, to brighten up the "living room of Brunswick". A more comfortable and modern place for the community will make a huge difference, so any help you can offer would be massively appreciated...
Help me make the most of the miles (especially the "off road" miles here in the UK) by even the smallest contribution, or failing that, a message of support over the coming days...
Will stick some pics up on FB along the way.
Cheers
Nick
