Story
Worldwide there are over 110 million people forcibly displaced by war and persecution. Rather than help, many governments demonise these refugees for political gain, leaving millions of vulnerable people in desperate need.
In December 2023 I aim to swim 20 km to fundraise for Refugee Action and the United Nations Refugee Organisation (UNHCR). Please donate if you can, and help fight for a fairer future for refugees and people seeking safety.
Donations made through this page will go Refugee Action. And I will match every donation with a donation to UNHCR; so if £500 is raised from your donations, I will donate an additional £500 to UNHCR.
Refugee Action are a UK based charity. They have been standing up for refugees since 1981, they deliver frontline services for refugees, and campaign for their rights.
UNHCR is mandated by the United Nations to protect and safeguard the rights of refugees. We also support former refugees who have returned to their home country, people displaced within their own country, and people who are stateless or whose nationality is disputed. We are guided by and act as the guardian of the 1951 Refugee Convention and its 1967 Protocol.
