Golspie Backyard Ultra · 2 November 2024

The primary role of the Assynt Mountain Rescue Team is the provision of search and rescue in mountainous, or inhospitable terrain in North and NW Scotland, for any person who may be injured, or otherwise in need of assistance. The Team are all volunteers from a variety of backgrounds.

Story

Dear friends

On the 2 November I'll be taking part in an unusual race event, Golspie Backyard Ultra, being held at Dunrobin castle, Golspie. It's a last person standing race, beginning at 10am and going on until.....well, there's only one person left?

Assynt mountain rescue team are supporting the event by offering medical safety cover, I intend to run until my legs fall off.

If you would like to support us, we'd be most grateful.

Assynt Mountain Rescue is a registered charity. Whilst we receive a small grant from the Scottish Government and assistance from Police Scotland, we rely on the generosity of supporters for the majority of our funding. Donations and sponsorship fund equipment and training vital to provide a mountain rescue service.

We'd be grateful for any help, however large or small. Each call out costs several hundred pounds and to kit out the team members to enable them to be safe on the hill costs much, much more.
