Story
It’s been a while 😉
The last time I did something for Oliver’s Arc was last year when I ran the London Half Marathon (which was incredible to run by the way).
So since then my minds been ticking ⏱️ wondering what I can do next… something more challenging, something bigger, something better, something that I’ve never done before!!
So, on Friday 29th May I will be running from Pontefract to Filey 🌅 in memory of Oliver Hurd through the charity Oliver’s Arc.
It consists of a 65 mile run which will take us from one day to the next meaning I’ve set myself the challenge to do it in as little as 24hours 😎. I won’t be alone through this, i have a really good friend doing this with me, rich, who has helped me throughout my running journey so it’s going to be a huge pleasure having him next to me throughout it all.
We will also have Ade & Jonny crewing for us from start to finish, keeping us hydrated, fed and ultimately sane through it all 🤪😴.
Everyone has been so supportive throughout everything I’ve done for this charity over the years, which means a lot to me and even more for Oliver’s family. I don’t plan on stopping anytime soon and I will always be looking for the next thing to do 👀
Alice’s Arc was inspired by Alice's journey with cancer. She was diagnosed with rhabdomyosarcoma at age 3 in March 2015. She had 20 months of chemotherapy at GOSH, UK and proton radiation in the US. Alice spent a year cancer free but it returned in February 2018. She underwent 6 months of chemotherapy and a procedure known as AMORE in Amsterdam involving surgery and brachytherapy. Alice spent another year clear before tumours were found in her abdomen and pelvis in July 2019. There were no options left. Alice died, aged 7, in October 2019.
