Shout is the UK's only 24/7 text messaging support service for anyone struggling to cope. The Mix is the UK's leading digital support service for under 25s. Shout and The Mix are powered by Mental Health Innovations.

Story

This year I have decided to raise money and awareness for the charity SHOUT https://giveusashout.org by challenging myself to compete in “Ironman Austria” which takes place in June and incorporates a 3.8km swim followed by a 180km bike ride and is topped off by running a marathon.

Shout is the UK's only free, confidential and 24/7 text messaging service for anyone struggling to cope with their mental health.

During lockdown I volunteered as a supervisor for Shout and saw the incredible work and effort that is put into the platform to provide such a unique lifeline to anyone that was struggling.

Talking aloud can be daunting for some, and having the option to converse via text, is priceless.

Every 60 seconds, someone reaches out to SHOUT for support and has a conversation that could save their life.

£10 can pay for a conversation with someone in crisis

£25 can fund a clinician to provide expert supervision of conversations on SHOUT’s digital mental health platform.

£250 can train a new SHOUT Volunteer to take life-saving conversations.

So, unless you want to join me bursting my lungs for 13+ hours, I am going to ask that you take the easier option by clicking a few buttons and making a donation as LARGE or as small as you can afford and then relax and put your feet up on 18/06/23 and take satisfaction that you are at that precise moment helping and doing something to support mental health by just sitting in your chair – how easy could it be – you know it is the right thing to do!

Thanks,

Nick
