Iceland Trek for Longfield

Longfield Iceland Trek · 7 November 2024 to 12 November 2024 ·
I consider myself very lucky to have reached an age that some don't have the privilege of attaining. I have unfortunately had family, friends and colleagues who have sadly passed away far too early.
So to celebrate making it to 60 (or 50 + VAT as I prefer to say!) I would like to raise £100 for every year I have been alive and as I intend to continue living life to the fullest I am taking on the challenge of a lifetime! Some may say I'm mad... maybe I am but what I'm about to do is for a very good cause...
I will be trekking across Iceland (and I don't mean the aisles between the freezers!) tectonic plates, under waterfalls all to raise money for an incredible charity. I will be trekking long distances over varying terrain across 4 consecutive days. I will also be doing my best to avoid volcanic eruptions and earthquakes!
Longfield Community Hospice is there for people who are sadly are diagnosed with a life limiting condition. But rather than be isolated in a hospital bed like so many are forced to do, Longfield gives them the opportunity to be at home with their loved ones surrounded in the comfort of their own home. Something I would want for myself and my loved ones if the unthinkable should happen.
£55 pays for an hour of hospice at home care from 2 medical professionals. This allows friends and families to be just that - not worrying about medication, care giving but enjoying the time they have together. Longfield help with pain relief, washing and cleaning and providing support not just for the patient but their carers and loved ones too. All the services they provide are free - which means they have one less thing to worry about at the worst possible time - but they rely on fundraising for 85% of their income.
So by sponsoring me to take on this epic challenge you'll be helping those living in Gloucestershire with a life limiting condition. Please help me reach this target to help encourage me in my training efforts.
